TERMS:

Quarter 2 - 4: Terms must be written in your spiral notebook. Terms recorded on notebook paper must be transferred to your spiral notebook.

Terms must be written in the Vocabulary Section of the spiral notebook.

You will be able to use your spiral notebook/Cornell Notes for the Bonus Question on the 15rh Week Assessment, so take great notes!

NOTES:
You must have at least one page of notes for each day. Notes must be written in your spiral notebook in the Notes Section.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Assignment numbers for new work will be given this week.

Assignments 20 – 24 must be turned in by Friday, November 21, 2008.

Monday - Go directly to your computer and define the following terms:. Terms: Lesson 1 - Exercise 2, pg. 597, 1-5 (table, datasheet, form, dialog box launcher, and preview) and Exercise 3, pg. 604, 1-3 (primary key, blank database, and template).

Tuesday -Go directly to your computer and continue working on the Cornell Notes – Exercise 2, pgs. 597-600 and Exercises 3 – pgs. 604-607. Use the Cornell Notes form.

BR QUIZ- 5 min. - TECH TERMS Without talking, go to your class Period folder and open the TECH TERM QUIZ #1. Complete the Quiz and save it in the Period Folder in FirstClass. Don’t forget to put your heading on it and save it in the Period folder. Save the Quiz in your Tests/Quizzes folder in FirstClass also.

Wednesday - Go directly to your computer and define the terms
Terms: Exercise 3, pg. 604 (1-3) – (primary key, blank database, and template) and Exercise 4, pg. 610 (1-6) – (table design view, data type, field description, field properties, primary key, and composite key). Use the Cornell Notes form.

Thursday - Go directly to your computer and define the terms, using the Cornell Notes form.

Terms: Exercise 4, pg. 610 (1-6) – (table design view, data type, field description, field properties, primary key, and composite key). Lesson 2 - Exercise 7, pg. 620 - 1-4 (caption, input mask, validation rule, and index) and Exercise 8, pg. 626 – 1-2 (plain text and delimiter).

Friday - Go directly to your computer and log in to the Choices Planner website.

Monday–

Students - Explain the concepts in Exercise 2, pgs. 597-600 and Exercises 2 – pgs. 604-607 using the Cornell Notes form. Summarize the concepts at the bottom of the Cornell Notes form.

Perform the Computer Procedures pgs. 600-601, 607 and Computer Exercises, pgs. 602 and 608.

Tuesday – Continue with Cornell Notes – Lesson 2 - Exercise 2 and 3, pgs. 597-600 and 604-607. Perform the Procedures – pgs. 600– 601 and Computer Exercises - pg. 602 and 608.

Quiz –Terms – Exercise 1-2 (10 mins.). If time permits, complete the On Your Own Exercise – pg. 603.

Wednesday – Begin working on the Cornell Notes – Exercise 3-4, pg. 604-607 and 610-613. Summarize your notes at the bottom of the Cornell Notes page. Perform Procedures Exercise 3, pg, 607 and Computer Exercise, pg. 608.

Thursday - Group project- Group Database #1- See handout for instructions. (20 mins)

Organize in groups, at designated computers, and complete group project – Creating a Customer Database.

Do Exercise, pg. 614 as a group project. If time permits, do the On Your Own Exercise, pg. 615.

Students complete Procedures – pg 630-632.

Due date: Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - NO EXCEPTIONS!!

The poster board should contain the following items:

• Title on the poster board. Your heading information on an index card in top right-hand corner.
• Resume
  
• Short Paper about yourself (who/what influences you, what are your favorites (foods, sport, etc.), what is important to you)
  Paper should be double-spaced with all 1″ margins and use 12pt. Times New Roman
  black font.
  Include an introduction, body, and conclusion.
  
  PICTURES AND TERMS DEPICTING THE THREE PHASES OF YOUR LIFE DESCRIBED BELOW:

1. Phase 1 - My life during the first five years after I leave Harlan
2. Phase 2 - My life in 10 years
3. Phase 3 - My life in 40 years

• Pictures/photos collage (in center of poster - minimum number = 20 pictures). Pictures can be from magazines, newspapers, flyers, Internet, or hand-drawn. DO NOT CUT PICTURES FROM TEXTBOOKS. This will result in an automatic grade of “F.”
  
• 10 words (minimum) cut from magazines and placed in center section of poster depicting your life over the next forty years.

• My Life - write a summary of what you expect your life to be like during each time period below. You may use index cards or other paper:

• College Report (see handout)and college information (information sheets, pamphlets, etc.)NOTE:

QUARTER 1 ASSESSMENTS will be given on November 4 and 5.  Study your vocabulary and review Lessons 1-3, after you complete your projects.  Study guides for Lesson 2 and 3 will be posted by Monday, October 27, 2008.

Monday – Create six flash cards, using the vocabulary in Lesson 2 and 3. Choose six out of the total words in Lesson 2 and 3.

Tuesday – Lesson 2 - Vocabulary (1-4) . Write in Spiral Notebook in Vocabulary Section.

Wednesday – Mid-Week Reflection. What have you done to ensure that you will receive a passing grade in this class? Reflect on your attendance (absences/tardies), time-on-task, attitude, note-taking, submission of work in a timely manner (including poster board project), lab procedures, etc.

Thursday - Draw a VENN diagram illustrating the relationship between a file cabinet as a database and an electronic database. Identify the similarities and differences. See posted sample.

Friday – No school for students

Evaluation Sheet Verification. Check with teacher to confirm your points/grades to date, no later than Wednesday, October 29, 2008.

Periods 1, 3, and 7): In groups, organize around one computer for your Group Project #1. If the recorder is absent, designate a recorder for the practical exercise.
